media release: Ian’s Pizza Madison is once again celebrating this election day with a variety of activities (and free pizza!) to encourage staff and customers to get out and “Mac the Vote” on Tuesday, November 5.
“Ian’s Pizza made international news in February 2011 as being, ‘This is What Democracy Tastes Like’ and we’d like to be known for that again this November,” says Sarah Karls, Ian’s Pizza CEO. “Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our freedoms, and we feel like that is worth recognizing”
This year on November 5, the Frances Street and Garver Feed Mill locations will be closed until 5:00pm to ensure their crew has plenty of time to get to the polls. Then from 5:00-9:00 pm, Ian’s Pizza Frances and Ian’s Pizza Garver will open their doors and offer one free slice of their signature Mac n’ Cheese pizzas to every customer who comes in. The Garver Feed Mill location also has a large party planned for the evening, including family friendly activities such as face painting, a magician, and acoustic music.
Many of the other Garver Feed Mill tenants are partnering with Ian’s Pizza to welcome guests into the entire space with food and drink specials and a variety of children’s activities.
The State Street location will be closed all day on the 5th to thank poll workers. They have the goal of delivering 20” Mac n’ Cheese pizzas to every polling place in Madison throughout the day and into the evening.
“This is shaping up to be an historic election, and we want to honor everyone’s participation,” notes Karls. “There are no better ways for us to do that than creating time for our staff to vote and celebrating the democratic process with our community over a slice of Mac and a party.”
