Justin Dillard - Hammond Organ Mayshell Morris - Flute Vinnie Roofe - Acoustic Guitar And special guest Jumaane Taylor - Hoofer/Tap Dance Born and raised on the west side of Chicago and attending both Vandercook College of Music and The Velvet Lounge; Justin Dillard’s studies at both institutions gave him the honorable privilege to work with innovators locally and globally performing/recording with and/or receiving tutelage from the likes of Branford Marsalis, Robert Irving III, Ornette Coleman, the late jazz master Von Freeman and Roscoe Mitchell to name a few. Howard Reich (Chicago Tribune arts critic) writes: “A new generation of jazz improvisers has emerged in Chicago in recent years, but few are more promising than organist/pianist Justin Dillard. Musically, Dillard tends to be all over the keyboard, drawing upon the examples of virtuosos such as Dr. Lonnie Smith, Eddie Harris, and McCoy Tyner. But there’s something more to Dillard’s work as well; a quest for new ideas in music, in the manner of his AACM mentors.” Justin has performed on national television (ABC) with his organ expose’ The DOT and has played in various genres spanning Avant-Garde with the late tenor master Fred Anderson to a Dave Matthews tribute band (Crash). Exploring the ancient art of footworking through body movement in collaboration with vocal and musical instruments; Set Trippin' is a sonic evolutionary ode to new things in a different way.

Jumaane Taylor, a Chicago native, has been tap dancing since the age of 7 at the Sammy Dyer School of the Theatre. He has had the opportunity to train with Idella Reed Davis, Geraldine Williams, Runako Jahi, Bril Barrett, Martin Dumas III, Jimmy Payne Jr., and George Patterson III.

Jumaane has been apart of the ensemble in Imagine Tap! (2006 by Derick Grant); Tap Into Peace (2009 by Sarah Savelli and Ayodele Casel); and Rasta Thomas' Tap Stars that showcased in Hamburg, Germany. While also tapping as a member of local bands, Corey Wilkes' Abstrakt Pulse, Sidewalk Chalk, Ernest Dawkins’ We Free Three, and the Isaiah Spencer Collective.

Jumaane has received the Chicago Dancemakers Forum 2017 Lab Artist Award, 3Arts 2019 Award, and has presented his work with the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Museum of Contemporary Art, Jazz Institute of Chicago, Columbia College-Dance Center and abroad. He teaches at Mayfair Arts Center, Ruth Page School of Dance, and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Since 2021 Jumaane has also been the artistic director of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project
