Madison Jazz Jam

media release: Continuing every 3rd Wednesday of the month, Madison Jazz Society & Madison Jazz Jam will hold a monthly series featuring  a showcase band followed by Jams at COPA, 2841 Index Road, Madison. This venue is located about 1 minute from the junction of the Beltline & Fish Hatchery Road.

Madison Jazz Society & Madison Jazz Jam's 2024-2025 season will continue on Wednesday, October 16. This month's workshop will be "Rhythm As Language," led by Pawan Benjamin. "Pawan and this trio will dive into the importance of rhythm, how to engage and lock in with a band, develop ideas, and speak your ideas through your instrument." A jam session follows the workshop, from 7-9 PM. The house band will be Pawan Benjamin, sax; John Christensen, bass; and Wayne Salzman, percussion.

First Saturday jams continue at Cafe Coda, 1224 Williamson St., Madison, starting on Oct. 5.

This series features combos from local universities & high schools, with a showcase session from 1-2 PM, followed by a jam from 2-4 PM. The young musicians in these house bands are a special treat, and great new talents. As always, all ages are welcome both to listen and jam, there's no cover charge, and the music is great.
