(2022 Isthmus pick) If this has somehow escaped your attention, we assure you: TubaChristmas is, indeed, a thing. And it has been now for 48 years. Each year, tuba and euphonium players get together across the globe to play Christmas music and the best of the repertory for the big brass instruments. Madison is one of seven sites for TubaChristmas performances this year in Wisconsin alone. And just when you think tuba music can't get any more emphatic, stick the impromptu orchestra in the Capitol Rotunda. It's a lot. Players are welcome; please register at noon, First United Methodist Church, with rehearsal at 1 p.m.

Player Registration: 12:00 PM — 1:00 PM, First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Ave, Madison

Rehearsal: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Same location as registration

SUGGESTIONS: Bring a music stand or lyre; space is limited at the rehearsal site: if at all possible, use gig bags rather than hard cases. There will not be a secure storage area at the rehearsal site for your cases and bags. All items will need to be moved from FUMC to the Capitol for the concert. Chairs will be provided at both locations. * WEAR BRIGHT COLORS *

REGISTRATION: All participants must register first at the First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Ave, Madison for TUBACHRISTMAS. REGISTRATION REQUIRES A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION OF $10.00 (registration fee). Each registrant will receive a TUBACHRISTMAS 2024 Commemorative Button. Registration fees help cover production, promotion, and administrative costs for TUBACHRISTMAS.
