Favor fresh foods. Include at each meal or for a snack. Sprouted foods are very enzyme rich. Select organic, if possible, to avoid added chemicals.
Choose to chew. If you chew well, you may be able to digest up to half of your carbohydrates before they reach the stomach.
Pay attention to portions. When you eat more food than your own digestive enzymes can manage, your metabolic enzymes must provide. Our portion sizes are larger now than 20 years ago, and our bodies are having trouble meeting the challenge.
Consider carbs. Think of bagels, processed muffins and breads as a treat, choosing cereal grains for breakfast instead, because this diminishes the amount of sugar that feeds destructive bacteria and supports the pancreas.
