Fall foliage, sidewalk cafes
Today's image is titled "Fall foliage, sidewalk cafes" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
Summer is going out with a blast, with near record high temperatures forecast for today. Conditions are going to cool down quickly this weekend, though, just in time for the first official day of autumn on Sunday, September 23, as the equinox arrives at 3:51 a.m. CDT. There are already many signs of the changing season, particularly in the first wave of autumn leaf color.
In this photo, diners enjoy the warm weather sidewalk cafes outside Himal Chuli and Parthenon Gyros on State Street underneath a canopy of yellowing leaves. Before too long, the outdoor eating spots will be packed up for winter and the trees will be bare, so enjoy Madison's most estimable season while it lasts.
