Public Hearing on Dane County's 911 system
Monday, May 19, 6 8 p.m.
Fitchburg Community Center
Still ticked off about the Dane County 911 Center's failure to respond when it received a call from Brittany Zimmermann's cell phone on the day she was murdered? Want director Joe Norwick's head on a platter? Now's your chance to speak out. A few rogue Dane County supervisors are hosting a town hall meeting on the issue. (An earlier joint meeting of two county committees was held on May 8.)
The meeting, stresses County Board chair Scott McDonell, is not official, and the requested attendance by Norwick and County Exec Kathleen Falk is not assured: "While having district listening sessions can be worthwhile... if staff and other officials are expected to attend it is only common courtesy to coordinate with their schedules."
McDonell notes that the town hall meeting conflicts with the regularly scheduled Public Protection & Judiciary meeting, the county committee that oversees the 911 Center. That's true, but the main item on PP&J's agenda for tonight is a tour of the new courthouse. Maybe once they're done with that, they'd like to head over to Fitchburg for the town hall meeting?
