Yields one 9-inch pie
1 9-inch unbaked pie shell (use your favorite recipe) 2 cups pecan pieces 3 large eggs, beaten 3 tablespoons butter, melted 1/2 cup dark corn syrup 1 cup sugar 3 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Scatter the pecan pieces over the pie crust.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and melted butter. Add the corn syrup, sugar and the chocolate chips. Stir until all ingredients are combined. Pour the mixture over the pecans in the pie shell. Place the pie dish on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees and continue to bake for an additional 25 minutes or until the pie is set. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
