The Madison Area Music Association unveiled the slate of finalists for the 2013 MAMAs on Thursday, March 21. The second round of online voting started Friday, and runs through midnight on May 17. The awards ceremony will be held at Overture Center's Capitol Theater on Sunday, June 23.
Proceeds from the voting process will help fund the association's efforts to support youth music associations.
More than 440 people from the local music scene received nominations in nearly 70 categories, and total of 130 artists have proceeded to the last round of the competition. Leading the way with the most nominations was The Family Business Band, which boasted nine total, including in several instrumentalist categories. Other performers and groups receiving multiple nods include fellow "Artist of the Year" nominees Beth Kille, Ida Jo, and the Jimmys, as well as PHOX and the Lucas Cates Band.
