After making the leap in 2015 from small boutique labels to indie titan Domino, both Philadelphia’s Alex G and Manhattan’s Porches released albums that developed their sound and expanded their audience. Alex G’s 2015 album, Beach Music, sees the prolific guitar-driven songwriter embrace jangly melody, while Porches’ 2016 record, Pool, makes gorgeous use of synthesizers and a reflective vibe.
