As of March 5, Volume One of the film series will available on Two DVD’s or one Blu Ray and features behind the scenes featurettes, bloopers and music videos. The Raven James Chronicles Volume One is also available on the Amazon streaming video service.
As with the other 3 films, Mourning in the Cemetery was funded in part with the contributions from an Indiegogo campaign.
The Raven James Chronicles stars Daniel Harris as Raven James, an alcoholic spiritual medium, who uses booze to silence the seemingly unlimited ghosts who need his help. He does help them – but on own terms. He can also communicate with them in his subconscious, in a realm he calls “The Waiting Room,” which consists of a doctor’s office and a gate at the end of a hallway. When Raven is drunk, the ghosts patiently (or sometimes impatiently) wait behind the gate for Raven to help them work out their loose ends.
The Raven James Chronicles is an independently produced short film series by Makeshift Media Group, a Madison based Production Company headed by Raven James creator Ben Wydeven. The films are primarily funded through crowdsource campaign contributions.
The films are based on characters from Wydeven’s novel, Drowning Demons, which follows Benny and Raven as they investigate a haunted nightclub.
The Raven James Chronicles Volume One is set about 3 months prior to Drowning Demons and explores how Raven
began to integrate Benny in his paranormal encounters. Volume Two is set 2 months before the novel.
While they deal with ghosts who have not crossed over, Raven insists they are not “paranormal investigators.” At
Raven’s request he and Benny aim to help ghosts without involving the living.
