press release: Owners, customers, and simply the curious have been trying to get a glimpse at the work underway inside Willy Street Co-op's new Northside location. But the wait will be over when Willy North opens its doors for a sneak peek event on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"We want to invite everyone in to take a tour of the space before any products are stocked on the shelves," Co-op Director of Communication Brendon Smith says. "This will be our largest store at 20,000 square feet, and while many may remember it as the former Pierce's Market, we are looking forward to hearing what people think after two intense months of renovations." Pierce's closed in May, and since then, a freshly paved and marked parking lot is the most noticeable outward signs of updates underway.

This sneak peek will reveal the special changes inside, and include food samples, an ownership drive, and the opportunity to learn about the co-op and its operations in general, along with asking any questions specific to the Northside store. And while the work may continue, this peek inside will be the first and only time to check out the new Willy North, before it officially opens to everyone.

UPDATE on the Bond Drive and Special Matching Challenge: The Forward Community Investments Bond Drive Matching Challenge was a success!

FCI issued the challenge at the co-op's annual meeting on July 14, 2016, announcing it would match every $500 bond bought by an owner, up to $25,000 total. The challenge limit was met just five days later, on July 19, 2016.

The Co-op continues the push towards its original goal to raise $1.5 million by August 1, 2016, and following the challenge is currently at $1,135,000 with a little more than a week to go.
