Wisconsin Institute for Discovery Director Candidate Presentations
press release: Five finalists have been named for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Director for the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery. The director will report to Marsha Mailick, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education.
Selected by a 10-member committee chaired by Paul Ahlquist, Professor of Molecular Virology, Oncology, and Plant Pathology and an Investigator of the Morgridge Institute and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Finalists for the position are:
Christopher Bradfield, Professor of Oncology, Director of the Molecular and Environmental Toxicology Center, and Interim Director of the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery at UW-Madison.
Michael Ferris, Professor of Computer Sciences and Optimization Theme Leader at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery at UW-Madison.
Jo Handelsman, Associate Director for Science - White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor, and Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University.
Robert Landick, Professor of Bacteriology and Biochemistry and Conversion Area Lead for the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center at UW-Madison.
William Murphy, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopedics / Rehabilitation and Co-Director of the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center at UW-Madison.
Each of the candidates will also make a public presentation, outlining his or her vision for the position. Presentations will be:
