Speaking of new venues, when is a zoo not a zoo? When it's a theater.
The vacant bear exhibit at the Henry Vilas Zoo will serve as the innovative stage for an Aug. 21 production of The Zoo, by Arthur Sullivan, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame. Terry Kiss Frank will direct the one-act comic opera for Madison Savoyards.
"We're using that as a tryout for similar efforts," says her husband, Boris Frank, executive director of Friends of the Zoo.
