The Madison SloPig will take place starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, at the Madison Club. Top local chefs will create multiple dishes using whole heritage breed hogs. The World Championship Cheese Contest is Tuesday and Wednesday, March 18 and 19, at the Monona Terrace Convention Center. First-round judging (all day on March 18 and in the morning on March 19) is open to the public at no cost with free samples. An evening sampling gala from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on March 19 is a benefit for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. Tickets ($35, must be purchased in advance through worldchampioncheese.org) cover unlimited sampling of 50 international cheeses, appetizers and the final judging.
