The Madison SloPig will take place starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, at the Madison Club. Top local chefs will create multiple dishes using whole heritage breed hogs. There will also be a craft punch competition, butchery demos and wine and beer tastings. Tickets ($100/$150 VIP) available through slopig.com.
The World Championship Cheese Contest is Tuesday and Wednesday, March 18 and 19, at the Monona Terrace Convention Center. First-round judging (all day on March 18 and in the morning on March 19) is open to the public at no cost with free samples. An evening sampling gala from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on March 19 is a benefit for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. Tickets ($35, must be purchased in advance through worldchampioncheese.org) cover unlimited sampling of 50 international cheeses, appetizers and the final judging.
