We can't apologize for Carlos Miranda and his group, but we personally apologize to our customers for the noise and disruption of their noon lunch on June 3. Recently, a notice was published in Isthmus by the Workers' Rights Center asking for volunteers to protest at our bakery/cafe, La Baguette. The problem is, there was nothing to protest, as a simple phone call to verify the facts by the workers' rights group would have clarified that any issues had long been cleared up.
Instead, our store was invaded during our busy lunch hour by a group of roughly 25 "protesters." They proceeded to harass our customers, our employees and us until it was necessary to call the police to remove them. Frankly, there was a lot of shouting involved. When they finally realized there was nothing to protest, several of the group returned to apologize. We appreciate that, but hope that in the future, the Workers' Rights Center takes the time to verify the facts, gets both sides of the story and thinks before taking action.
