The Eyesore that is Library Mall

I did see the fountain in operation, but it was permanently covered after the first couple of years. However, the library mall grounds were always a favorite grassy area for everyone, as was the area behind the Memorial Union. And I've never seen a worse landscape "update" than the one that covered 90% of the grassy areas behind the Memorial Union - a place that was filled with mature shade trees and grassy shoreline. And now matters are worse, not better. What is that new Eyesore Building that required a full quarter of the Library Mall area? That's not MORE "green space", it's MUCH LESS "green space". And so the loss of green continues.
