Madison Police cite Issouf Ouattara, owner of Africana Restaurant & Lounge on Atwood Avenue, with unreasonable noise after they were called to the bar to break up fights outside and disperse a noisy, aggressive crowd the second weekend in a row. Police later say they may try to shut the venue down. "We had 10 police officers and two sergeants respond," says East District Capt. Tom Snyder. "That's about half of the city's [on-duty] police force coming to a single bar fight."

Two teenage boys are arrested for allegedly phoning in about 20 bomb threats that closed Stoughton Hospital, prompting its evacuation. The boys, who confessed to their parents, are put in juvenile detention. "Their idea was they were playing a prank," says Stoughton Police Sgt. Brian Gowan. "They thought it was funny until the hospital was evacuated."

Sauk County sheriff's deputies take a 13-year-old boy into custody after he admits to shooting his 55-year-old father in the back of the head. The boy, who is being held on first-degree homicide, was found wandering around a Walmart.
