Red Bow
Today's image is titled "Red Bow" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
This photo depicts the glass prow of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, i.e. MMoCA, as it appeared on New Year's Eve. The moon is only a few days shy of full, and the walls of the museum are illuminated red as part of the festivities inside. In mid-December, MMoCA announced (PDF) that it had reached its fundraising goals in 2006, raising over $9 million for its endowment and another $3 for the rooftop garden and Fresco restaurant. Additionally, over the seven months of operation since it reopened in its new Overture Center home, the museum's attendance has doubled to 140,000. Will the new building's novelty and draw continue into 2007?
