Lone Ice Fisherman
Today's image is titled Lone Ice Fisherman and was photographed by D. Shawn Kennedy.
Kennedy describes the photo, taken from the shores of Lake Waubesa in McFarland: "The lake looks really dangerous to me, but what do I know? I have never ice-fished before."
With the recent streak of warm weather, open patches of water are appearing on Madison's lakes; they should be completely open soon. Given this year's late freezing dates, it's possible the lakes will have been ice-covered for barely more than two months. More lake freeze and thaw data is available from the Wisconsin State Climatology Office.
