YARRR!!!
Today's image is titled YARRR!!! and was photographed for Justin Aten.
While 35,000 people crowded on to State Street to celebrate Halloween last Saturday, another couple hundred folks were indulging in a different kind of revelry at a certain club on East Washington Avenue. This was the High Noon Halloween Party, a costumed concert featuring three tribute bands and YARRR!!!. Performing "classic pirate rock from the high seas," YARRR!!! consists of Kyle Motor (guitar, bass, vocals), Dave Esmond (guitar), Peter Fatka (bass, guitar, vocals), Justin Aten (guitar and vocals) and Jason Schumacher (drums). As noted by various persons in attendance, the highlight of their set was the performance of Black Betty, the often-recorded classic American folk song. This was the final song of both their set and the night.
Though YARRR!!! performed at a costume contest in full Jack Sparrow get-up and backed by a jolly roger, it was not solely a Halloween treat. The band plans to continue its classic rock covers act into the future. More discussion of the show is available here on TDPF, and more of Aten's photos can be found in his photoset titled Rockin'.
