Right now I'm listening to the "MadFiber Cabal" (their term, not mine) give their presentation on the city's campaign to bring Google Fiber to Madison.
The good thing about tech dorks is that they know how to stream a meeting, which I encourage you to here. In addition, here is the facebook group you should join and the Twitter feed you should follow.
More insight on the meeting later, and watch out for more comprehensive news from other Isthmus staff!
One of the MadFiber cabal: "Having a fiber network allows you to choose whatever TV channels you want. If you're a right wing person and you just want to watch Fox News, you can do that."
One very insightful commenter makes a good case for fiber. She compares it to infrastructure. Even if you don't use it, its improvement benefits you through the goods it brings and the business it entices.
