Madison, get ready for The Runaways. Sundance Institute has announced the lineup for the first-ever Sundance Film Festival USA, which on Jan. 28 will see filmmakers hosting screenings at eight cinemas nationwide, including Sundance Cinemas Madison. Sundance Film Festival USA is an adjunct to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, which will be held in Utah Jan. 21-31.
The film screening in Madison is The Runaways, writer-director Floria Sigismondi's biopic about the 1970s band the Runaways, whose members included Joan Jett. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Tatum O'Neal.
Sundance Film Festival USA is "a ground-breaking initiative designed to highlight the ability of art, specifically film, to introduce new concepts, challenge ideals and spur debate," Sundance Institute said in a press release.
