Isthmus asked Count This Penny vocalist Amanda Rigell to tell the story behind three tracks on the band's forthcoming EP, Wolves Are Sheep. Here's what she told us.
"It's about living in a small town and trying to be yourself and exist in a insular world -- and deal with the judgment and weirdness that goes along with being part of a small scene. It's one I wrote a really long time ago but brought back and changed. I chopped out huge parts of it and turned it into something new."
"It's sort of about a relationship ending and the speaker realizing that they didn't do anything wrong to make it end. Maybe they weren't the right person, but the other person in the relationship is just kind of messed up."
'High/Lonesome'
"It's a knockoff country waltz. I wanted to write something that sounded like old classic country, so thematically it's appropriate for a breakup-themed EP. It's about feeling sad and lonely, and about somebody that broke your heart."
