The City of Madison and announced (PDF) the entertainment lineup for the fourth annual Freakfest, the ticketed State Street Halloween party designed to keep the hooligans from hooliganing and ruining the party for everyone. This year Freakfest takes place on Halloween proper: Saturday, Oct. 31.
On the Amp/Z104 stage near the capitol, the Freakfest headliner is Ursa Major. Also on the Amp/Z104 stage: Kentucky quintet Push Play, whose single "Midnight Romeo" is an appealing pop confection. They're returning to town for the Halloween party following an opening gig for Jessie James at the Majestic on Oct. 11.
The Urban Theater stage will feature former rockers and former Madisonians The Nod, the new local pop-rock combo that has been making quite a promotional splash these last couple of months. On the Frances Street stage, look for DJ Will Calder and the finals of the costume contest.
More Freakfest 2009 details are supposed to emerge in the coming weeks.
