The UW Hoofer Ski & Snowboard Club's 43rd annual Ski & Snowboard Resale blows into the UW Memorial Union this weekend in the wake of Friday morning's snowstorm.
The resale draws hundreds of snowboarding enthusiasts, Alpine and Nordic skiers with its abundance of new and used skis, boards, boots, bindings and related gear.
Beginners and advanced snowboarders and skiers will find early-season bargains galore on last year's models from local retailers, as well as older gear offered by individuals looking to free up some closet space for the latest equipment.
Amid the clatter of Friday's preparations for this weekend's resale, Meg Reinbold of the UW-Madison Hoofer Ski & Snowboard Club presents a preview of the Alpine skis, boots, bindings and accessories shoppers can expect to find when the doors open Saturday morning. She also offers downhill enthusiasts -- whether beginner or advanced -- some advice on how to get their most out of their Resale experience.
Over in the snowboard room, the club's Anna Lu-Steffes takes a break from helping to organize the snowboarding part of the resale to answer a few questions about the boards, boots, bindings and related gear that will be awaiting snowboard enthusiasts on Saturday morning, and offers some insights regarding ways in which snowboard shoppers might best prepare themselves to make the most of this year's Hoofer Ski & Snowboard Resale.
Cross-country skiing enthusiasts also get a room all their own at the Hoofer Ski & Snowboard Resale, where they'll find a selection of skis, boots and bindings suited to skate-skiing, classical stride-and-glide, touring, randonee and other Nordic sub-disciplines. In this brief interview, the club's Mo Martin presents an overview of the Nordic selection shoppers can expect at this year's Hoofer Ski & Snowboard Resale, and offers a few tips for those who intend to show up early Saturday to take advantage of the greatest array of choices.
The reseale is scheduled for 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3 at the UW Memorial Union.
