Holiday Trash/Recycling Collection

media release: There will be no Streets Division collections performed on both Tuesday, December 24, 2024 and Wednesday, December 25, 2024 in observance of the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day holidays. The drop-off sites will also be closed on these two days. Below are the directions residents should follow in order to have their trash and recycling collected during the upcoming two-day holiday.
Collection schedules are available on the Streets Division's website, www.cityofmadison.com/Streets.
If your trash and recycling are normally collected on Monday or Tuesday by the Streets Division, you should have your carts to the curb by 6:30am on Monday, December 23, 2024.Check your collection schedule calendar to determine if you should have your recycling cart to the curb along with your trash cart. Carts set out late may not be collected.
If your trash and recycling are normally collected on Wednesday or Thursday by the Streets Division, you should have your carts to the curb by 6:30am on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Check your collection schedule calendar to determine if you should have your recycling cart to the curb along with your trash cart. Carts set out late may not be collected.
The Streets Division drop-off sites will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 and Wednesday, December 25, 2024. The Sycamore and South Point sites will reopen on Thursday December 26, 2024 for normal winter hours. Check the drop-off site website for hours and locations before loading your vehicle. Streets Division collection of trash and recycling will occur as normally scheduled on Friday, December 27 – unless we get severe weather that forces delays or cancellations.
