Inaugurated in 2021, the Jazz on State series returns with an all-star lineup of Wisconsin performers. The New Orleans Tribute, led by trombonist Darren Sterud, and the classical-jazz-rock mixologists Mr. Chair take the stage June 8; guitarist Charlie Painter and his trio and singer/composer Betsy Ezell and her quintet perform June 15; and the swinging Mike Cammilleri Organ Trio and soulful Milwaukee singer-songwriter Donna Woodall and band play June 22. Bring a chair and plan to grab some food from neighborhood restaurants; beer will be available on site. Find more info at jazzonstate.com.

media release: Jazz on State will begin its second season on June 8 with a stellar offering of diverse jazz genres at this free outdoor series.

Music begins at 5:30pm with a 60-minute set, and the second set starts at approximately 6:45 and ends at 8pm. Jazz on State takes place at The Forum at 30 on the Square in the 100 block of State Street. In the event of rain, the music will move inside to: June 8 / North Street Cabaret, 610 North St.; June 15 & 22 / The Majestic Theatre, 115 King St.

New this year! We have a limited number of reserved tables available that seat 8. Tables are $150 per night, or $400 for the series on a first come basis. Please email jazzonstate@gmail.com to inquire about reservations. Please feel free to bring your own chair, or rent one of ours ($5 suggested donation) to benefit the series. Carry-in tables are not permitted.

We encourage attendees to patronize restaurants in the vicinity hard hit by the pandemic. Ian’s Pizza, 107 State, Cooper’s Tavern, Clary’s Popcorn, Teddywedgers, and Michelangelo’s Coffeehouse will be open during the concerts. New this year is beer vending featuring Capital Brewery beers. Please consider a donation to help fund the series! Over 90% of dollars raised goes to pay musicians and technicians a living wage. The rest of the funds raised goes to operational expenses such as required insurance, permits and other miscellaneous expenses. The series is organized entirely by volunteers.
