Set in San Fernando Valley in the late '70s, a young dishwasher becomes Dirk Diggler, a popular star of pornographic films. Boogie Nights chronicles his rise in the Golden Age of Porn through to his fall during the excesses of the 1980s, as a toxic combination of ambition, drugs, and egotism damages the lives of Dirk and his circle of friends.
