Music Makes a Difference is hosting this concert, featuring the music of legends ranging from Otis and Aretha to Jay-Z and Lil Wayne...and that's just a sample. Performers include Raquel Aleman, Eli Blakely, Rob Dz, Juciee Monroe and Soup (from Supa Friends), all joining the house band for the evening, Don't Mess With Cupid. DJ Phil Money spins. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated for Kujichagulia Madison.
media release: As part of Black History Month, Music Makes a Difference is presenting a celebration of Black Music at the Majestic Theatre on Saturday, February 18, starting at 7 p.m. This a FREE show! (ages 18 +). The nine-piece soul band Don't Mess With Cupid will be laying down the grooves along with artists Rob Dz, Raquel Aleman, Juciee Monroe, Soup (Supa Friends), Eli Blakely, DJ Phil Money, and more! In addition, Mandela Barnes will make a guest appearance. You can expect great danceable covers from Black artists such as: Bill Withers, Sly & The Family Stone, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Run D.M.C. and others!
Lastly, as part of MMAD's mission to support local charities, there will be a freewill opportunity to donate to Kujichagulia - Center for Self-Determination. This group hosts Madison's Juneteeth Celebration in the Park and promotes the accomplishments of and advocates for African Americans in Dane County.
