Heavy Looks is a dynamic power pop rock band based out of Madison, WI. Founding members Dirk Gunderson and Roz Greiert met in Stevens Point and became friends through the college music scene. After school, both moved to Madison in hopes of finding creative job opportunities but found themselves caught in the middle of a recession. To break up the monotony of working low paying soul-sucking nine-to-fives, they started writing and playing music together.
Named after a Romeo and Juliet quote, Heavy Looks’ lyrics connect with the same forlorn feelings as the famous Shakespeare play evokes – feelings of love, feelings of loss, and feeling stuck in a mundane existence. By contrast, the melodies and rhythms conjure an optimistic outlook with hook-laden guitar lines and driving drumbeats. Melding Dirk's pop sensibilities and bright guitar with Roz's raw vocals and grunge riffs, they form a unique flavor of indie rock that packs heat.
In 2014, the band released their debut EP, Senses Growing Dull, and made their presence known in the Madison music scene. They opened for several national acts including Curtis Harding, Gin Blossoms, The Posies, The New Pornographers, and Screaming Females.
Live, the band's an energetic force, trading vocal leads with ease and tapping into something that feels genuinely powerful. In December 2015, the band released their first full-length album, Waste It Right. Their second full-length album, Apathy, was released in August 2022.

With a splash of “Pavement”, a zest of “The Breeders”, and a pinch of “Fountains of Wayne”, the local Madison band Kitty Butler is sure to scratch that indie pop itch.
Sparked by the simple desire to hang out and create music together, local Madison musicians Marlo Darken (Venus in Furs, Ask for jane), Adam Schabow (The Shabelles, Treemo), Jennifer Hedstrom (ask for jane, Jennifer Hedstrom Solo), and Adam Tregre (Sons of Atom, Treemo) formed KITTY BUTLER.
Their harmony driven, high-energy, sparkly rockin’ pop songs will have you dancing, purring, and jumping for joy.

Nick Brown is a songwriter, singer, guitar player and electric bass player based in Madison, WI. A native of Michigan, Brown briefly studied music performance before moving to Austin, Texas, working as a gigging musician by night and as a pool and spa maintenance technician (some might say a “pool boy”) by day.
Returning to the upper Midwest and settling in Madison, Wisconsin, in 2008, Brown soon after became the bass player for raucous Madison country band The Brown Derby. Working with Brown Derby guitarist Andrew Harrison, Brown released his debut solo album, “Slow Boat” in 2012.
The Nick Brown Band formed for that album release show and has yet to unform, while playing some of the most vaunted venues in Wisconsin and father afield. The band includes a stellar lineup of Madison-based musicians, including Andrew Harrison on electric guitars, Rusty Lee on keyboards, Pat “Log” Logterman on upright bass and Ben Wolf on drums.
