vs. Minot.
media release: July 2 update: Due to anticipated stormy weather, the game designated to honor Cheri Maples will now take place on Sunday, July 14 at 5:05 p.m. Join us in honoring Cheri Maples’ path from the ball diamond to the Diamon Sutra.
Cheri (1952-2017) was a powerhouse in the Madison area – from supporting women who experienced domestic violence, to doing anti-racism and restorative justice work as a Captain In the MPD, to her role teaching mindfulness as a dharma teacher in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh.
Cheri was also an exceptional athlete, well known as one of the top 2nd base players in rec leagues in Wisconsin in the '70s. Her dream was to play professional baseball, and being pre-title IX meant that was not an option. Instead, she fulfilled her other dreams of getting a law degree & becoming a peace officer.
Join us in celebrating Cheri’s life as part of the inaugural season of the Madison Night Mares. 50% of ticket sales support Community Shares of Wisconsin, which supports many local organizations that were near & dear to Cheri’s heart.
