Madison Savoyards' summer 2022 production is "Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse."
It's truly not summer without a Madison Savoyards production of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. This year the Savoyards are back to the live stage with Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse. Witches! Curses! Communicating with the dead! It's all here in a steampunk-influenced production with all the tuneful mayhem one expects from the masters of the comic song. Performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Info at madisonsavoyards.org.
media release: The Madison Savoyards return to the live stage with Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse.” A long time ago, a persecuted witch placed a curse on the Baronet of Ruddigore, whereby he and each of his descendants must commit a crime each day, or die in agony. Witches, curses, ghosts, secret identities, romance and knavery are spun into a tale of madcap macabre! This rarely performed comic opera features Sir Arthur Sullivan’s exhilarating music, and W. S. Gilbert’s wit at its sharpest.
