The 100 Pound Dress
to
Madison Enterprise Center-Common Wealth Gallery 100 S. Baldwin St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Local Artist and UW Madison MFA Candidate, Emily Popp presents, The 100 Pound Dress. The 100 Hundred Pound dress is a single garment being created from over 100 pounds of discarded clothing. Each pound of this dress represents the equivalent weight of the clothes the artist owns. This piece asks, what is the physical and spiritual weight of what we own? What really happens to our clothes when we get rid of them? And, why do we have so much excess?
