The Big Share, an annual fundraising campaign for local nonprofits coordinated by Community Shares of Wisconsin, is March 2.
The pandemic has proven that nonprofits are an ever more important part of our societal safety net, whether providing a constant community presence with direct assistance to the most needy or advocating for policy for the public good. Help them help us all by making a donation during The Big Share, the annual online fundraiser hosted by Community Shares of Wisconsin, a membership organization of nonprofits working for environmental and social justice. Find more info on participants and how to donate at thebigshare.org; for related events, keep an eye on Community Shares' Facebook page. The kickoff event, on Zoom at 6 pm on March 1, features speakers and drag queen bingo.
press release: On Tuesday, March 2, Community Shares of Wisconsin will host The Big Share, the seventh annual community giving day. The Big Share is a fun and flexible way to donate to and learn more about a range of organizations making a difference in our community. This year, 70 local nonprofits are participating, including some groups participating in their first Big Share.
Events leading up to The Big Share – including a kickoff event and Power Hour at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1 – will be announced on Community Shares of Wisconsin’s social media platforms. All events from February through March 2 will have a special focus on virtual and donor-led experiences.
Giving through The Big Share is easy. To find a participating organization, visit thebigshare.org and click on the search magnifying glass at the top of the page. You can view all the participating organizations or search for a group by name. Organizations may also have donation matching or unlocking challenges to give your gift an even bigger impact.
In addition to the option of making a cash gift, MCF is pleased to partner with The Big Share once again so you can recommend a grant from your MCF donor advised fund to support a participating organization. Making a donation using your fund is easy: simply specify your fund as the source of your donation on The Big Share site. We will handle the rest.
MCF has been the principal partner of The Big Share since it began in 2014 – like MCF, the campaign enhances the common good through philanthropy. Community Shares of Wisconsin member nonprofits work for justice, equality, and to support a vibrant and inclusive community.
The Big Share is an easy way for everyone to support the causes they love. You can make a gift through The Big Share at thebigshare.org through 11:59 p.m. on March 2.
