Records, the Instrumental-trio and acclaimed jazz-saxophonist are bringing their collaborative sound on the road. The album was rated a 7.8 by Pitchfork and named Album of The Week by Stereogum, upon its release, with SPIN also lauding their chemistry on the record as "the beginning of a beautiful—if sonically volatile—friendship." The Messthetics is made up of the rhythm section from renowned DC punk band Fugazi, with Joe Lally on bass and Brendan Canty on drums, along with experimental and jazz guitarist Anthony Pirog. First coming together for performances in 2019 and ultimately sparking inspiration for the album, the band's new project was recorded in just two days capturing the combustive chemistry the four musicians originally felt on stage, expanding in all directions.
