Band Info:
Wurk is a 7-piece funk-fusion group which formed in Madison, WI in 2016. Inspired by Snarky Puppy, Umphrey’s McGee, The Motet, Herbie Hancock, and many others; their innovative original songs and ambitious interpretations of popular covers offer an impressive multi-genre exploration of funk, jazz fusion, prog rock, reggae, and more. Described by Isthmus Magazine as “summer-jam-perfect”, their sound seeks to employ a musically educated tone; Wurk fills the gap between complexity and groove, impressing fans and keeping them dancing all night. The Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) Awards recognized their rapid ascent to stardom in 2018 with the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award; then only six months later Wurk won five more awards including the coveted 2019 MAMA Artist of the Year Award.
Spare Change Trio is known largely for their eclectic live performances that incorporate the Australian Yidaki (didgeridoo) into flowing soundscapes of reggae, funk, and jazz-fusion. Deeply rooted in the positive message of reggae music, the band has grown to realize their calling: to spread peace, love, and harmony… while laying down an infectious groove.
2019 was an exciting year for SC3. They toured and backed Dustin Thomas on his Welcome to the North Tour and shared the stage with Cas Haley and Natalie Rize at Wookiefoots Shangri-la Music Festival. In July they opened for 311 at the Rave’s Eagle’s Ball Room and in June they supported WERK at Colectivo’s Back Room. They were flattered to co-headline a show a Madison’s Majestic Theater with their good friends Earth to Clark. Sets at Summerfest, State Fair, People Fest, Peacetree Music Festival and Vibe High Music Festival rounded out their summer. Spare Change Trio is eternally grateful for the support of their friends and family!!
