UP: Pot. Gov. Jim Doyle comes out in favor of legalizing marijuana for medical purposes, so long as it's prescribed by a doctor. Following an Obama administration move to stop hounding users and suppliers of medical marijuana in states where it's been legalized, Doyle says it doesn't make sense to deny sick people pot when they can have much more dangerous drugs like morphine. Well, duh.
DOWN: Dogs. Coyotes are being blamed for killing two small dogs - one in Middleton, the other on Madison's west side - in the last two weeks. Patrick Comfert, animal control officer with the Madison-Dane County Health Department, says "an urban coyote acting in a normal manner for an urban coyote...may attack small pets if unattended by their owners."
