So you've hacked your way through the new Legend of Zelda on your Wii, and you're dying for more sword-wielding fun. Red Steel raises your hopes only to dash them.
The plot revolves around an American whose Japanese fiancÃe is kidnapped by Yakuza. The environments don't feel at all Japanese, and the gameplay is mediocre. I like the swordplay, but the interface is clunky and not nearly as fun as Zelda. As for the gunplay, I had trouble hitting anything I was aiming at.
Red Steel isn't a horrible game, but it's just not good enough. Wii swordfighters will have to stick with Zelda until another strong title comes along.
