Broken Embraces: A movie director (Lluís Homar) has an affair with the producer's unhappy mistress (Penélope Cruz) in this potentially fascinating thriller, told in kaleidoscopic flashbacks. Writer/director Pedro Almodóvar serves up lots of metatextual musing on the making and watching of films, but it all adds up to not enough.
