Some ten thousand hard rock and metal fans gathered amidst the rain last Sunday for JJO Band Camp 2007 on the grounds of Willow Island at the Alliant Energy Center. More than a dozen bands -- Stonesour, Sevendust, Godhead, Nonpoint, Burden Brothers, Skillet, Dope, In This Moment, Finger Eleven, Kittie, Deaf Pedestrian, Kicking K8, Black Light Burns, Sydonia, and Reason for Leaving -- were lined up to play on two stages through the daylong festival sponsored by WJJO 94.1 FM, an active rock format station in Madison owned by Mid-West Family Broadcasting.
Aside from any of the music, though, one of the most memorable moments of the festival may have been a massive mud fight among hundreds of revelers just in front of the main stage. Split by a walkway leading out to a sound tent, the battle was conducted between underage revelers and those free to imbibe, all of whom had shelled out nearly forty bucks apiece to fling turf at one another between and during the bands' sets.
One person at the festival armed with a camera shot footage of the flying mud, gazing out from the relative safety of the stage. This five-minutevideo clip follows below.
