Local musicians (Wendy Schneider, Bradley Thomas) and UW researchers (Charles Hughes, Alexander Shashko) discuss musical responses to the events of 9/11 and their aftermath.
Orpheum Theatre, 8 pm
Slug and Ant return to Madison to prove why Atmosphere is one of the longest-running indie hip-hop groups in the world. They'll also showcase their newest album, The Family Sign, which may be their most personal collection to date. With Evidence and Blueprint.

As one of the top-grossing global touring acts of 2010, this legendary Dutch DJ knows how to put on an over-the-top show. For two weeks, he's bringing his dance-music extravaganza to college towns across the country, stopping in Madison to kick out some epic jams fueled by house, trance and electro sounds. The folk-pop singer-songwriter isn't a native Minnesotan, but you'd never guess it thanks to his enthusiasm for the Gopher State. His brand-new album, Minnesota, explores the transition into adulthood with finesse and some special guests, including Jason Schwartzman of Rushmore and Phantom Planet fame. With The Pines.
