It seems almost superfluous to give a tip of a hat to the UW-Madison's athletic department director and erstwhile head football coach. The guy already has a statue of himself at Camp Randall!
Fortunately for Barry and the Badgers, his cred is almost as big as his head. His 118734 record with three Rose Bowl wins from 1990 to 2005 make him the winningest coach in the school's history. And his hand-picked successor, Bret Bielema, has continuing his winning ways, albeit without a Rose Bowl win (so far).
Last year Alvarez was unanimously inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. A magazine once named him one of the nation's 100 "most influential Hispanics." And Babcock Hall even created an ice cream, the Berry Alvarez, in his honor.
And now, this. What more could a person want?
