This UW-Madison animal behaviorist is well known in Madison for her frequent public appearances and Dog's Friend Best training classes. But she's also known all over the globe as a prominent zoologist and gifted communicator.
McConnell's "Calling All Pets" aired on Wisconsin Public Radio for more than a decade, until 2009, carried at its zenith by more than 100 stations. Her 2002 book The Other End of the Leash has been translated into a dozen languages, and 2007's For the Love of a Dog secured her reputation as one of the Madison area's very best writers.
A UW-Madison grad herself, McConnell now pens a popular blog and travels the world teaching people how to build better relationships with their canine companions. She deserves a big wag of the tail from us all.
