Don't miss the fifth annual Isthmus Green Day, held at Monona Terrace in downtown Madison on Saturday, April 21. The expo runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mark your calendars -- it's all about making a few smart decisions and simple changes, to clean up our planet and ensure a greener future.
Headlining Isthmus Green Day is acclaimed New York Times columnist ("The Minimalist") Mark Bittman! He is the author of Food Matters and How to Cook Everything. At this year's expo, Bittman will address sane, conscious eating, examine the connection between diet, health, and the environment, share ideas how everyone can make a difference, and ultimately, change the way we think about food. Food Fight Restaurant Group is co-sponsoring Bittman's talk.
On the main stage, Isthmus Green Day presentations aim to bring local and healthy food to the table. REAP Food Group will present chef demonstrations featuring Chef Rodey Batiza of Umami Ramen & Dumpling Bar, Fairshare CSA Coalition Chef Pat Mulvey and Chef Laura Gilliam of Local Thyme, and Chef Annemarie Spitznagle from Bloom Bake Shop.
Later in the day, local handmade menagerie and vintage shop Zip-Dang will be showing off with an Upcycled Fashion show. Moreover, Tim Southwick Johnson will also be performing Sand Country Songs, which explore the themes of Aldo Leopold's A Sand County Almanac.
Isthmus Green Day is fun for the whole family! Throughout the day, over one hundred exhibitors will share new green and innovative ideas for your home, energy efficient transport for your commute, alternative medicine for your body, delicious treats for your taste buds, and just about a million other ways to make your life greener and environmentally friendly!
And here is another good reason to attend: Admission to Isthmus Green Day is free this year, courtesy of MG&E. So you have nothing to lose! (Except maybe your carbon footprint!)
Isthmus Green Day Sponsors include MG&E, Food Fight Restaurant Group, Focus on Energy, WKOW, Whole Foods, The Century House, Rishi Tea Edgewood College, Murfie, Home Savings Bank, and Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin, Calvert Investments, REAP Food Group, Zip Dang Fashion, and Honest Tea.
