Naima, a spunky girl in Bangladesh, is a dreamer and a schemer in this fun and inspiring novel for upper- elementary-age children. Unfortunately, Naima's plans don't always turn out so well. She dresses as a boy to try to earn money for the family by driving her father's rickshaw, but instead of the success she dreams of, her adventure ends in a disastrous crash. Not only does this cause her family dismay, it ruins the beauty of the new rickshaw, keeping away high-paying clients. The family can't afford to fix the rickshaw, until Naima finally finds a scheme that works. Who knew her painting skills would come in handy after all?
