As I write, it's another beautiful day, continuing the string of weather that convinces us we made the right choice to live in Wisconsin. I'm informed by the weather information on our website (TheDailyPage.com or Isthmus.com -- your choice) that the situation is about to change, with wet, cooler conditions moving in.
The weather is just one of the many things you can find at Isthmus.com and on our mobile site, m.isthmus.com, including a link to IsthmusFoodAndWine.com, the site that contains information about the upcoming Isthmus Food & Wine Festival, Oct. 18-19 at the Alliant Energy Center. It's the second year for this event, and it has advanced considerably from last year's edition. And features are still being added.
IsthmusFoodAndWine.com delivers the lowdown on the approximately 100 exhibitors who will be at the fest. It also contains information about the many demonstrations and added elements that will make this exhibition entertaining as well as informative -- activities such as the Iron Sommelier Competition, the Mac & Cheese Smackdown, Cocktail Flair: Theatrical Bartending with Alchemixx, Small-Batch Fresh Cheese, and FairShares CSA's Weird Vegetables.
There will also be presentations from some of Madison's leading restaurants, with chefs and staff giving you insight into their craft. All will be explained if you visit the website, including the schedule, a list of the exhibitors, information about the event, comments from last year's attendees and a list of the sponsors who help make the event possible and whom we truly appreciate. Information can also be found in this issue in the full-page ad on page 35.
You can get tickets through the site, and also at Star Liquor and all three Steve's Wine, Beer and Spirits locations, not to mention the Isthmus office downtown, of course. So as the weather encourages us to take our fun indoors, this is where it will be happening in mid-October. As the festival slogan says, "Eat, drink and be Madison!"
