Three women who are supposedly approaching their sell-by dates meet every week to bitch and moan in the English comedy Crush, which is what "Sex in the City" would be like if it were set in a village in the Cotswolds. Then one of them ' a prim and proper headmistress played by Andie MacDowell ' meets a sensitive young hunk, sending the other two into paroxysms of jealousy and revenge. After all these years, MacDowell continues to have her limitations as an actress, but writer-director John McKay surrounds her with British thespians who've obviously had a go at NoÃl Coward. The result is a movie that's both light on its feet and, like MacDowell's love-struck fortysomething, soft in the head.
