While George Bush was doing whatever he was doing, John Kerry was being shot at in the Mekong Delta, but if that's not all you need to know about their respective war records, here's Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry, which seems expressly designed to refute the dubious claims of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Director George Butler, who's known Kerry for 40 years, ably takes us through the senator's tour of duty in Vietnam, then through his tour of duty in the U.S., as a leader of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. The documentary, a glorified campaign ad, suggests that, with Kerry, we'd be getting a war hero as well as an antiwar hero.
